RENOVO - Charles J. “Bud” Hallberg, 91, died Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo.
He was born in Renovo on February 22, 1931 and was the son of the late Gustauv A. and Anna B. (Schell) Hallberg.
He served his country proudly in the United States Air force during the Korean War Conflict.
On November 6, 1965 Bud married the late Mary E. (Pickering) and they were married for 36 years until her death on October 21, 2003.
Bud was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School Class of 1949. He worked for and retired from Conrail.
He was a member and cantor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Renovo and belonged to several local bands including being a co-founder of S.O.S. Band, Bud and the Dynamics along with the community choir. All in all, music was the theme of Bud’s life.
Bud is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; Ruth K. Poleto of Lugoff, S.C. and Deborah and Mark Kerns of Quincy, IL, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and one sister-in-law; Carol Hallberg of Hollidaysburg.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bud was preceded in death by one daughter; Vyrel Jern, one son-in-law; John Poleto, one great granddaughter; Joni Newcamp and one brother; John “Jack” Hallberg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Bucktail Medical Center Long Term Care, 1001 Pine Street, Renovo or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo, PA 17764.
A Graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner followed by Military Honors. Arrangements are being handled by Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo, PA 17764.
