Doris E. Merrill

LOGANTON - Doris E. (Holdren) Merrill, 90, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at her home.

She was born in Salona on December 20, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Russell and Margaret (Schaffer) Holdren, Sr.

On March 14, 1953 Doris married the late Lee L. Merrill and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage until his death on February 13, 2020.

She was a member of Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, Eastville.  Doris enjoyed crocheting, sewing, going to the cabin, watching western movies and spending time with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Arthur and Terri Merrill and Jerry and Gail Merrill all of Loganton, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law; Donald and Elda Mae Holdren of Loganton and one sister; Grace Nicholas of Jersey Shore.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by three brothers; Russell, Jr., Merrill and Elwood Holdren and three sisters; Anna Mae, Pearl and Freda.

A viewing will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, 2305 E. Winter Road, Loganton, PA 17747 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Kenneth Geisewite officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Arrangements are being handled by Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, PA 17851
