Leo Edward Ritter, 87, of Lock Haven passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo in the company of family.
Born January 30, 1932 in Williamsport the son of the late Laurence T. and Anna W. (Haefner) Ritter.
In 1966 he married Doris M. Shady who survives. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together.
Leo graduated from Williamsport High School in 1950. He completed a course at the U.S. Naval School at Great Lakes, Illinois in 1953. Engineman Class A. Diesel Electronics. He then graduated from Williamsport Technical Institute in radio communications in 1959. He graduated from Williamsport Community College in electronics technology in 1971.
Leo was employed at Park Motor Car Company as a mechanic. Alvo Electronics as manager from 1955- 1966 and at Lock Haven University electronic systems from January 1967 and retired in December 1993.
He served in the U.S. Navy from February 10, 1949 to September 9, 1954 in reserves and active duty. He was responsible for generation and distribution of electrical power on ship. He was on board the U.S.S. LST 603. He crossed the Arctic Circle.
His hobbies were ham radio club, hunting, fishing, and reading. He was a member of the American Legion, Lock Haven.
He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lock Haven.
Surviving are his loving wife and one granddaughter Laura Watson.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen, Eleanor, John, Paul, Ruth, Laurence, Frederick and Esther. He was also preceded in death by his cherished daughter Georgia Ann Watson in 2002.
A sister Louise Marchese in Williamsport survives.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.
Friends and relatives will be received one-hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard with military honors by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Immaculate Conception Church, Lock Haven.
Leo will be remembered for being a wonderful, loving caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family.
