Mary Frances (Cowfer) Funk, 97, of North Bend passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by the love of her family.
Born October 7, 1923 in Renovo, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Clara Bella (Walters) Cowfer.
Mary was the wife of the late Eugene K. Funk who passed away on November 26, 2018. The couple were married on June 24, 1978 and celebrated 40 years of marriage together.
More than anything, Mary loved to take care of her family. She was known to be an excellent cook, baker, gardener and embroiderer. She also enjoyed reading. She worked for several years as a waitress at the Renovo YMCA and Pentz Hotel.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church on 7th St., in Renovo and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Renovo.
Mary is survived by one son, Calvin “Lee” Funk of North Bend; daughter, Mary E. (Funk) Woodworth and husband, Philip of Cambridge Springs, PA; two grandchildren, Eugene Woodworth and Melissa (Woodworth) McCorkle and husband, Patrick; four great-grandchildren, Jacara Reynolds and husband, Justin, Tyler Woodworth, Megan McCorkle, and Tristen McCorkle; two great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt Wolfgang and Dallas Wolfgang; one half brother, David Cowfer and wife, Julia; three half sisters, Virginia Kiminsky and husband, Bob, Florence Mader and husband, Bob, and Sueanne Lane and husband, Randy; three very special nieces and several nephews. In addition to her husband, Eugene, and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and a half brother, Charles, Bud, and Edward Cowfer; and one sister, Anna Mae Curcio.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family with interment at New Maple Grove Cemetery, Leidy Twp. Maxwell Funeral Home, Renovo has charge of arrangements.
