Ruth Anna (Miller) Rote

Swissdale

Ruth Anna Rote, 84, of Swissdale departed from her earthly home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. She was born on August 12, 1938 in York, PA to the late Rev. Joseph and Dora Mary DeWire Miller. She was a 1956 graduate of Lock Haven High School and graduate of Penn College with a degree in Accounting and Business Management.

She was very active in music in the community. She directed the East Main Street choir as well as the Swissdale children’s and adult choirs where she also played and gave piano lessons. She often played and sang in many church events. One of her most favorite was “Peace in the Valley” in which she sang a duo with Mr. Clyde Glossner. She also played for the YMCA boys’ choir and Waugh School of Dance. She also recorded records with her sister, Mary Louise.

She was employed as an accountant at many local businesses including Williamsport School District, Mittleman Accounting and Webb Supergrow. She was a member of the Swissdale United Methodist Church for over 55 years, Cancer Society and past secretary of the Farmers Association.

Ruth Anna is survived by her three sons, Robert (Lorna) of Harker Heights, TX, Brad (Marchal) of Mill Hall, and Scott (Barbara) of Brigantine, NJ. She is also blessed with her grandchildren Matt (Mandy) Rote of Lock Haven, Jess (Doug) Madenford of Howard, Josh (Amanda) Rote of Quakertown, Zach (Kelsey) Rote of Julian, Julianna (Tom) Newcomer of Brigantine, NJ and Gabrielle (Andrew) Elefante of Brigantine, NJ. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Emily, Estella, Oscar, Gavin and Lucy.

We will be remembering and celebrating the life of Ruth Anna at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall on Friday, February 3, 2023. Visitation with the family will begin at 3 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. by Pastor Cindy Killinger of the Nittany Valley Charge United Church of Christ. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Swissdale United Methodist Church in Ruth Anna’s name.
