Ruth J. Walk

Ruth J. (Dershem) Walk, 80, of Castanea, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Aug. 31, 1944, in Farrandsville, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Virginia (Egan) Dershem.

Ruth was married on Nov. 7, 1964, to Albert Franklin Walk, who survives. They celebrated 60 years of marriage.

She was a 1962 graduate of Lock Haven High School and attended Centre County Vo-Tech in Bellefonte where she received her LPN degree.

She was a LPN at Susque View Home for over 27 years.

She was a member of the 1199 P Nursing Union.

Ruth was Protestant by faith. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching old western movies and attending plays and events at Millbrook Playhouse.

Surviving are her loving husband; a son, Calvin E. (Tammy) Walk, of Montgomery; a daughter, Coreen M. (Frank) Killinger, of Mill Hall; two grandchildren, Coleen and Sydney; a great-granddaughter, Luna; a brother, James Dershem, of Lock Haven; and two sisters, Marian McKean, of Avis, and Dorothy Reeder, of Salona.

Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Coleen Renee Walk; a sister, Joyce Bressler; and two brothers, Elmer âBuzzã Dershem, her twin, and Calvin Dershem.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall. Pastor Tim Boger will officiate.

Friends and relatives will be received one-hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven, Pa.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society (Clinton Unit) thru the funeral chapel.
